Henan Mobilizes Modern Machinery and Smart Technology to Drive Autumn Grain Harvest

ZHENGZHOU, CHINA — Central China’s Henan Province, one of the nation’s primary agricultural and grain-producing hubs, has launched a comprehensive mobilization of high-tech machinery and smart farming solutions to ensure a smooth and efficient autumn harvest.

China’s Grain Hub Henan Deploys Smart Tech & Heavy Machinery for Autumn Harvest

With the "Three Autumns" (harvesting, planting, and field management) period in full swing, agricultural authorities across Henan are deploying state-of-the-art equipment to optimize field operations and protect grain yield.

Smart Machinery Leading the Charge

Across key agricultural zones such as Puyang, Anyang, and Zhoukou, traditional farming has given way to high-level mechanization. Heavy-duty combine harvesters capable of simultaneous picking and threshing are sweeping through vast cornfields, significantly cutting down operational time and labor costs.

To maintain crop health and precise field control:

  • Agricultural Drones: Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are actively deployed across fields to perform precise pesticide spraying and monitor crop condition in real time.

  • High-Capacity Dryers: Local governments have coordinated emergency grain-drying facilities and specialized tractors to prevent post-harvest dampness and loss, ensuring high grain quality before storage.

Pushing for Full Agricultural Modernization

Henan has already achieved mechanization rates of around 90 percent for both planting and harvesting its staple crops. By integrating high-end, intelligent machinery into frontline operations, the province aims to minimize food loss during harvesting and distribution while setting a benchmark for technology-driven farming across China.

Local officials emphasize that the integration of digital tools, smart sensors, and automated farm machinery is vital not only for securing the current season’s yield but also for building long-term food security resilience.
